Adverbs are words that modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs.
An adverb can tell how, when, where, or to what extent.

Kinds of adverbs When: yesterday, soon, often, immediately, sometimes
Where: here, there, down, up, everywhere, away, far, near How: well, cleverly, fast, wildly, carefully, badly To what extent: very, too, really, terribly, extremely, quite, not

Be careful where you place adverbs.
Adverbs that modify adjectives and adverbs belong next to the modified words. Lunar and solar eclipses were quite accurately predicted. Stonehenge has suffered from rather careless treatment. Adverbs that modify verbs can often be placed elsewhere in the sentence. Now this monument is maintained by the British government. This monument is now maintained by the British government. This monument is maintained by the British government now.
