To convert from Fahrenheit to Celsius, use the following equation:
Tc = (TF - 32) x 5/9 To convert Celsius to Fahrenheit, use the following equation: TF = Tc x 9/5 + 32
2
Tc = (TF - 32) x 5/9 = (50-32) x 5/9 = 18 x 5/9 = 10 oC Example #1
Convert 50 oF into oC Tc = (TF - 32) x 5/9 = (50-32) x 5/9 = 18 x 5/9 = 10 oC
3
TF = Tc x 9/5 + 32 = 20 x 9/5 +32 = 68 oF Example #2
Convert 20 oC into oF TF = Tc x 9/5 + 32 = 20 x 9/5 +32 = 68 oF
4
Kelvin Unit of temperature used to measure absolute zero (when all molecule movement stops) Since absolute zero occurs at -273 oC or 0 Kelvin…. 0 oC = 273 K
5
Kelvin Tc = TK - 273 TK = Tc + 273
6
Example #3 How many degrees Celsius in 575 K?
