3 Background Time and Effort reporting is the federally mandated method of certifying that the salary and benefits charged to a federal grant is accurate and is used to support such charges. Time and Effort reporting focuses on establishing internal controls to allow the institution to validate the cost. Federal grants comprise a large part of our District’s non-state funding resources.

4 Who must complete Time & Effort?
The federal government requires time and effort report for all faculty and staff who are compensated, in whole or in part, by federal grant, or whose efforts are used to satisfy a required or voluntary match for federal grant. Time and Effort must account for 100% of time for Federal and non- Federal activities.

Initial Budget Estimate Recording / Reporting Activity Verifying /Certifying Year-End Reconciling

Currently for exempt and classified employees only Allows reporting of actual hours worked Does NOT affect your paycheck Paycheck amounts are driven by ENSRC Allows supervisor approval and certification Monitoring Reports Available Business Office Supervisors Meets federal and audit requirements
