5. The Great Migration
A massive movement of African-Americans moved from southern cities to northern cities.
Escaping racial oppression
As African Americans moved north, they experienced similar racial injustices and inequality
The difference is that in the south, their laws were against blacks (Jim Crow laws)
In the north it was just traditional racism that was experienced
