Welcome! While we are waiting, please help me put together your child's interactive notebook (the biggest notebook in their desk)! - Write the following subjects on the tabs – in this order. (Math, Science, Social Studies, Reading Workshop, Health) - Place it back inside of their desk when you are finished. Fill out the papers on the left and leave them here for me to keep. The papers on the right are for you to take home. Feel free to make your class donation and leave it in the envelope to hand to the Room Representative at the end of the slide show!

About ms. taylor This is my 6th year at East Side.
Student teaching – 1 year Kindergarten paraprofessional – 2 years 2nd grade teacher – 3 years I graduated from Kennesaw State University In 2013. I am trained in Reading and Writing Workshop, have a Reading Endorsement, and a Gifted Endorsement. I am currently being trained in Orton Gillingham.

lunch Our time is from 12:31 – 1:01
Please notify the lunchroom with a doctors note for any allergies. You can set limits for the extra items. Ice cream is only allowed on Fridays. When having lunch with your child, please sit at the guest table with your child only. Please meet us at the lunch room and say goodbye at the lunchroom.

snack Your child may bring in a snack each day along with a water bottle. Water only – no juice boxes Snacks without any nuts are preferred! Snack is whenever the student is hungry and working at their desk. Keep the snacks healthy please – No Candy

Birthday treats You are more than welcome to bring in a “birthday treat” for your child. Please be aware that all treats need to be tree nut, nut, and gluten free. We have 23 students in the class. You may drop off the treats at the front office or send them in the morning with your child. Examples: cookies, donut holes, mini cupcakes, etc.

homework Homework can be found in your child’s take home folder.
Suggestions will be posted on the Weekly Newsletter. Homework does not need to be turned in to me unless your child would like to share with the class. Read 20 minutes each night. Spelling Practice (SOS – under weekly words or Speller’s Choice Activities) Math Practice using a deck of cards. Writing Calendar

Weekly captain Each Friday we will choose a new “weekly captain” for the following week. This way each student will have his/her time to shine! Monday: Share the “All About Me” poster Tuesday: Share your favorite book Wednesday: Parents will write a love letter about their student and this will be read to the class Thursday: Someone special can come and eat lunch with your student Friday: Each child will say something nice about the “Weekly Captain” during morning meeting

Classroom management We will use Brag Tags to display and collect while building positive character traits. Example – Responsibility, kindness, respect, honesty, etc. Notes or s will be sent home if necessary. Check the weekly progress report for up to date behavior and academic reports.

Extra information You can purchase your child’s class t-shirts and reading bags tonight or send in the money by Friday Must send in a note if your child is going home a different way than normal. **No s** Bus Pass/Bus Change Form (school website) Subscribe to the blog if you haven’t done so already When sending in money, please put in an envelope (ASP, lunch money, etc.) – leave out permission slips All About Me posters are due on Friday.
