2 Background on Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest is one of many Volksfest (People's fair) celebrating German Culture and Food The 1st Oktoberfest was in October 1810 celebrating the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese The Munich Oktoberfest is held from mid September through the first weekend in October Originally there were horse races but now there are food, games and rides

3 How the Minster Oktoberfest began
Minster was founded by Francis Joseph Stallo and six other men in 1832 as Stallostown and changed to Minster in 1836 after the town Munster, Germany where most of the settlers were from. The Minster Oktoberfest was started in 1975 by the JC’s. This festival is about our German heritage. Now there are ~80,000 people who come to the Minster Oktoberfest. To the left is our flag. To the right is a picture I think of Francis Joseph Stallo.

4 What clothes do people wear to the Oktoberfest?
For the boys the traditional clothes is called lederhosen. For the girls the traditional clothes is called dirndl . You will see many people wearing these clothes. This is considered formal dress for this festival. Traditional german boy clothes. But apparently for a dog too? These women are holding up some germen clothes for girls.

5 What there is to do at the Oktoberfest?
There are a lot of arts and crafts tents by the gazebo. Food! There's a ton of food spread all around. The Oktoberfest has plenty of games to play. A 10k race on Sunday morning and some 10k race prizes. You can’t forget the singing and dancing of the festival Everyone loves the parade because it’s so fun getting the candy. 6 Summary 2015 will be 41st Annual Minster Oktoberfest
This is a time for enjoying the early fall and celebrating our town and its friendly atmosphere and environment. Oktoberfest is a fun time for all, with plenty of food, dancing, German music and the Parade! This is my favorite festival that celebrates my family’s heritage and our town!
