1 Document 2.2: ESS group structure working under the ITDG and the DIME
A. Götzfried Head of Unit B 5

2 Introduction Business process integration in the ESS also requires an adaptation of the work structure within the ESS. First steps in this direction are: The strengthening of the role of the Director Groups preparing the decisions to be taken at the ESSC. The putting in place of additional ESS user groups related to shared services or shared IT applications.

3 The ESS Group structure related to IT, methodology, metadata, quality, standards etc.

4 The ESS group structure related to IT, methodology, metadata, quality, standards etc.
Level 1 groups: ITDG and DIME working at strategic level Level 2 groups: ESS working groups applying and implementing strategies and decisions taken at Directors' Groups Level 3 groups: Technical groups/technical user groups dealing with the use of shared services, technical standards or IT applications.

5 Results of the discussions at the Edamis user Group meeting in 11/2012
The participants of the Edamis User Group meeting stated that the structure of four ESS user groups seems too complicated; the structure of ESS user group looks as too much IT tool oriented and not enough "services" oriented; the structure of the ESS user groups could be simplified by e.g. merging the Edamis user group and the validation services user group (as many national delegates might be the same);

6 Conclusions The IT Directors are asked to comment on the ESS group structure related to IT, methodology, metadata, quality, standards, etc. (including the input provided by the Edamis user group); to adopt this group structure in its proposed or amended version.
