3. Marbury vs. Madison- established Supreme Court’s power of judicial review:
authority to determine the law via interpretation of the Constitution

6. Meriwether Lewis and William Clark
Led the Corps of Discovery to navigate the Missouri River and determine if it was a waterway to the pacific.
Additionally they were charged with establishing relationships with Native Americans and recording new plant and animal life.

7. Sacagawea- Native American who served as a guide
and interpreter for Lewis and Clark. Without her help
it is unlikely they could have secured horses needed
to complete task.

9. Tecumseh- Shawnee chief who attempted to
unite various tribes to oppose American expansion

11. Andrew Jackson emerges
as a national hero after the Battle of New Orleans
