Open your speech to grab your audience’s attention and tease them s they want to hear more!

Introductions typically have three (3) parts
Opening A Hook: Speech tease or preview (your audience wants to know WIIFM) WIIFM=What’s in it for me Transition to point 1

5 Types of speech openings/closings
Ask a thought provoking QUESTION Make a startling STATEMENT Use a QUOTE or POEM Tell a STORY Tell a relevant JOKE

DON’T APOLOGIZE, RAMBLE, OR ASK A TRITE QUESTION

MEMORIZE AND PRACTICE YOUR OPENING AND CLOSING STATEMENTS
Your conclusion should summarize your main ideas and end with a bang!
