1 DNA 3D Paper Model Directions

2 Lay out the blank DNA origami template on the table.
Step 1 Lay out the blank DNA origami template on the table. Make sure lighter tone diagonal lines are on your right side

3 You may choose your sequence of the nucleotides.
Step 2 Start by writing the first letter of your DNA nucleotides sequence (A, C, G or T) in the top right corner. You may choose your sequence of the nucleotides.

4 Step 3 Continue your sequence down the column on the right.

5 Step 4 Write the corresponding complementary bases in boxes diagonally across from your sequence as shown.

6 Step 5 Continue the complementary sequence until you reach the bottom; and fill in the top box of that column with any letter.

7 Step 6 That’s it! Now you are ready to color and fold your DNA!

8 Step 7 G = Yellow (It is the space defined between two diagonal lines)
A = Green (It is the space defined between two diagonal lines)

9 Step 7 C = Blue (It is the space defined between two diagonal lines)
T = Red (It is the space defined between two diagonal lines)

10 Now it’s time to fold!!!

11 Step 1 Fold in half lengthwise. Make all creases as firm as possible (use your fingernail!)

12 Step 2 Hold the paper so that the thick lines are diagonal and the thin lines are horizontal. Fold the top segment (thin lines) down (towards you) and then unfold.

13 Step 3 Fold the top two segments down along the next horizontal line, and then Unfold.

14 Step 4 Repeat for all segments.

15 Step 5 Turn the paper over.

16 Step 6 Fold along the first diagonal (thin lines) line. Unfold and fold along the second diagonal line. Repeat for all diagonal lines.

17 Step 7 Fold the white edge without letters up.

18 Step 8 Fold the other edge away from you. Partly unfold both edges.

19 Step 9 You can now see how the model is starting to twist.

20 Step 10 Twist and turn the paper while pushing the ends towards each other.
