Aboriginal Art 12. Aboriginal Art . 13. Indian Art A style of Art that uses embellishment ( Decoration) , fine details and pattern in rich colours. Often used in textiles and costumes. 14. Symbol something used for or regarded as representing something else; a material object representing something, often something immaterial; emblem, token 15. Earthy colours Colours that can be made naturally from ground rocks and natural materials . Used by artists in different cultures. 16. African Art A style of Art that uses bright colours, geometric shapes and repetitive patterns. Used on textiles and artefacts. Key points to learn Key points to learn Year 8 Knowledge Organiser Art and Design Name…………………………………….. 1. Tone Light and dark. Use colour or B pencils to shade in. ( Light) B > 9B (Dark) 2. Form The 3D shape of an object. Shade it to show the shape ( make it lighter in the middle and darker towards edges) 3. Primary colours Red, yellow, blue ( cant be made by mixing other colours) 4. Secondary colours Made by mixing 2 primary colours together. Red + yellow = orange. 5. Tertiary colours When you mix three colours together: red + yellow +blue= brown. 6.Opposite or complimentary colours Colours that work well together, they are opposite to each other on the colour wheel: Green>red, Blue>orange, yellow> purple. 7. Pattern Decoration that can repeat or be symmetrical, used to decorate. 8. Composition How you plan things out on a page or in an arrangement. 9. Stroke The direction of paint or pencil applied . Can also be dabbed or smudged. 10. Mark making Use different lines and squiggles to shade in areas to show texture. 11. Texture The way something feels- rough or smooth. Australian style of Art.
