2 Compression When a FORCE pushes on an object, the object is under compression Objects under compression tend to deform in shape Like a soccer ball when you kick it. HUH? What does this mean?

3 A juice jug… Gas can be compressed much more than a liquid….
WHO CAN USE THIS JUICE JUG TO SHOW ME WHY THIS IS TRUE?

4 The Particle Model can Explain…
REMEMBER.. There is much more space between particles in the gas than between those in the liquid SOOO… when a force is applied to the particles, the gas has more space to “squish” and compress.

5 Incompressible… Materials in a liquid state can be compressed very little if at all ALL LIQUIDS ARE SAID TO BE INCOMPRESSIBLE (they cannot be compressed easily)
