The Plant Kingdom Chapter 1, Lesson 3
2
The Plant Kingdom This kingdom has organisms that are multi-cellular, have cell walls and chlorophyll, produce their own food, and don’t physically move from one place to another.

4
Non-Vascular Plants plants that do not have tubes to carry water up the plant or tubes to carry food made in the leaves down the plant Examples: mosses liverworts ferns hornworts

Photosynthesis Plant cells produce their own food through a process called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis allows plants to convert light energy into food energy.
13
Photosynthesis Sunlight hits the leaf and that energy goes into the plant cells’ chloroplasts. A change occurs and food is made for the plant to survive.
14
Leaves are the “Food Factories”
The leaf is important because it is how the sunlight enters the plant . Leaves also take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen through small holes called the stomata.
15
Roots The roots of a plant take up water from the ground. Veins are the small tubes that carry to water from the roots to the stems
