3 Number of Internships RU: KZ:
According to Federal State Educational Standard for Master Students: 2-year master program: Teaching practicum 4 internships: 1.5-year master program: Industrial/work experience internship, Industrial/work experience internship Industrial R&D internship, Teaching practicum, 10-day practicum in a foreign university abroad Research Raisa Shulunova - BSAA - October 20th, Montpellier, France

4 Workload RU: Industrial/work experience internship – 15 credits /324 hours, Industrial R&D internship – 10 weeks, Teaching practicum – 3 credits / 108 hours, Research credits / 1188 hours KZ: 2-year master program: Teaching practicum – 3 credits /6 weeks (1 credit = 30 hours) Research – 3 credits /12 weeks (1 credit = 120 hours) 1.5-year master program: Industrial/work experience internship – not less than 4 credits Raisa Shulunova - BSAA - October 20th, Montpellier, France

5 Content Internship is a kind of training aimed at formation and development of practical skills and competencies while performing activities related to future professional career. RU&KZ: Industrial/work experience internship: Placement at a company / organisation: to get practical skills and competencies in professional field, manager’s skills and skills necessary for work in a team; Industrial R&D internship: Placement at a research organisation / department: lab experiments, writing an article, analyses, etc. Teaching practicum: Get teaching experience by attending classes of other teachers and by giving lectures and seminars on one’s own; Research: Research work on the theme of the master thesis , experiments, etc. which compile a practical part of the thesis. 6 Mentoring RU & KZ: One mentor (supervisor) – from a university and the other – from a company where a student has an internship. They meet at the beginning of the internship and decide on its plan, objectives, assignments, etc. Then they meet from time to time to check student’s progress and discuss any issues if any. At the end the company mentor should give a feedback on the student’s performance and then the student’s report on his/her work should be approved by the university mentor. 7 Outcomes Skill and competencies which master students should obtain:
Industrial internships – practical skills in the professional field as well as experience of communication and interaction in work environment Industrial R&D internships – skills of an independent researcher; Pedagogical practicum – some idea, knowledge and skills of teaching Research – deeper knowledge and skills Raisa Shulunova - BSAA - October 20th, Montpellier, France

8 Evaluation RU&KZ: Evaluation is given by both the company mentor and university mentor. A student has to prepare a report including results of his/her work, practicum diary, etc. and submit it to his university supervisor. Then he should present the results to the teachers of the departments where he/she studies. They evaluate new knowledge, skills and competences obtained.
