New acquisitions include Statista: Statistical data from > 80,000 topics Sage Research Methods New Discovery platform Provides access to: 4.3 million print books 3.3 million e-books Millions of full-text journal articles Streaming media, DVDs, CDs, records, tapes Course reserves Primary materials This is all only in the last year. We have many other databases and research materials available. Statista integrates statistical data from over 80,000 topics in areas such as business, education, finance, media, politics, society, and technology. Statista gathers data from over 18,000 sources, including market reports, trade publications, scientific journals, and government databases. The reports, charts, infographics, and statistics found in the database can be downloaded in Excel, PDF, PNG, or PowerPoint formats or embedded in web pages. SAGE Research Methods supports research at all levels by providing material to guide users through every step of the research process. SAGE Research Methods is the ultimate methods library with more than 1000 books, reference works, journal articles, and instructional videos by world-leading academics from across the social sciences, including the largest collection of qualitative methods books available online from any scholarly publisher. The site is designed to guide users to the content they need to learn a little or a lot about their method. The Methods Map can help those less familiar with research methods to find the best technique to use in their research. Built upon SAGE’s legacy of methods publishing, SAGE Research Methods is the essential online tool for researchers.

Special Collections and University Archives Institute of Jazz Studies (Newark) History of Medicine Special Collections (Newark) Exhibits, concerts, workshops …and much more. Our current exhibit is: “New Jersey First: The Life and Legacy of Senator Frank R. Lautenberg” Alexander Library Closes late September. We have an events calendar on our website with concert and exhibit information. Judith K. Brodsky, a Mason Gross faculty member whose papers are part of the Miriam Schapiro Archives on Women Artists

More than 50% with dual master’s or doctoral degrees Research consultations 55,000 reference transactions each year Collection requests Instruction tools and resources For courses, departments & centers For research consultations, I included Reference Questions, Ask a Librarian, and Chat Reference Service Interlibrary loan – we borrowed over 55,000 items for Rutgers faculty and students.

2,000 instruction sessions, reaching 30,000 students. Course reserve materials Streaming media for classroom use Subject or course-specific research guides (libguides.rutgers.edu) compatible with course management system Streaming media collections include SWANK, Kanopy, AVON, Digitalia. We offer media support services and can provide clips for classroom use.

9 6. Open & Affordable Textbooks
Resources to find open access or affordable textbooks and course materials Open & Affordable Textbooks Program: The Libraries will give out 20 $1,000 awards. Applications open in September, close November 2 All faculty and course instructors are encouraged to apply. Last year we gave out 32 grants with projected savings of $1.6 million for Rutgers students. Alternate Last year was the first year of the program and the projected savings was $1.6 million for Rutgers students. Research impact Citation management Copyright and licensing guidance RUcore—our institutional repository ORCID Research Data Management Support Research Data Management Support –we offer advice on best practices and planning; one on one consultations on data management issues; and workshops in data management software. ORCID will formally launch in October. It allows Rutgers faculty to connect their ORCID id and Rutgers NetID. Look for more information soon. RUcore is our institutional repository and houses electronic theses and dissertations, digital library collections, the NJ Digital Highway, and more. libraries.rutgers.edu/services_researchers

11 8. Open Access Open Access Policy Effective September 1, 2015
“Each Scholar will provide, at no charge, an electronic copy of the author’s final version of each article, no later than the date of its publication, to the designated representative of the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, in an appropriate format (such as PDF) as specified by the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. An author’s final version is the version that follows formal peer review, sometimes called the ‘postprint,’ as distinguished from the publisher’s branded PDF version.”

13 9. Collaboration on Projects
Launched Spring 2016 Grants Exhibits and lectures Digital projects Byrne Seminars We received an NEH grant to digitize New Jersey historical newspapers We worked with Andrew Urban in the American Studies department on a digital project about Seabrook Farms that has received additional NEH funding to create a two-week Summer 2018 Institute for High School Teachers, titled "Seabrook Farms' Layered Histories of Displacement, Migration and Resettlement." This project engaged our Women’s Studies Librarian Kayo Denda and our digital projects team led by Rhonda Marker.
