A star is a huge sphere of very hot, glowing gas. Stars make their own light.

This is called a red dwarf star and it is smaller than our sun
This is called a red dwarf star and it is smaller than our sun. It is red because it burns slowly therefore not very hot. Red dwarf stars are small.

This is a yellow star like our sun. They are yellow because they are burning their fuel faster. The are medium size.

Blue stars are bigger than any other stars. They are very bright and shine across a great distance.

Constellations are groups of stars in the night sky. Because the stars are so far away they seem to be right next to one another, but are always moving the night sky.
