2 Motherhood in Schools The views from a nazi to a women was very strongly put across. The nazis thought that all women should stay in the house and look after the children. This idea was even put across at a young age while girls were still at school. Girls even learnt about motherhood at school as a school subject.

3 How Successful Was Nazi Policies Towards Women?
Employment opportunities declined for women and under the Nazis there were less women as civil servants, doctors and teachers. Women were also said not to be able to think without emotion and therefore couldn’t be judges or part of the jury service. As the war started, women were encouraged to start working but were forbidden to work in the armed forces.

4 Nazi’s Thoughts On Women
The Nazis thought that women should be have as many children as possible and were encouraged to do so. Hitler was alarmed by the falling number of birth rates so had discouraged contraception highly. He also rewarded mothers with lots of children.

5 Nazi’s Thoughts On Women
For Eight or more children you would get the gold Mother Cross, and for six and four children you would get the silver and Bronze.

6 The Nazis Perfect Women
Propaganda is used by the Nazi at women (mothers) and Families. Posters and Broadcasts have emphasised the qualities of traditional German women. Women were also banned from smoking in some cities as it is ‘unladylike’ as well as the Nazis discouraged the latest fashion statements and make-up. Their perfect women had flat heels, no make-up and plaited hair.

7 What the Women Did Many German women objected of their roles as second class citizens. Some of these women joined illegal opposing political parties campaigning for a better status. Although many countries in this time considered women lower down than men. So Nazi beliefs to women were not unusual yet more extreme that usual.
