What is Geography? Why Study Geography?
The study of the physical features of the earth and its atmosphere, and how human activity affects and is affected by the earth. Understanding Geography will give us context to understand historical events; Where they happened, when they happened, and how the environment influenced them. Why Study Geography?

Where Am I? The precise spot where you are on Earth. 2 Ways to Describe Location Exact Location: Man-made spot, like an address or Latitude-Longitude lines. Relative Location: Position identified using landmark. -Landmark: Natural or Man-Made object that stays in place.

Place describes a small area, region describes a large area

Nature Landforms: Mountains, trees, water, etc. Climate: Rainy, dry, sunny, cold winters, etc. People Culture: Religion, traditions, hobbies, etc. Race, ages, sexes, population, etc.
