Lets Dance- Dance folio and choreography

Introduction Students take their shoes off
Choose a leaders and the leaders partner. Play Music: The Promise by Michael Nyman Students line up behind the leader and their partner in two lines outside the door. The leaders side (left line) wear red belts. Students enter the classroom like a zip: left right, left right. So that students will be in a pattern of belt –no belt-belt- no belt. Teacher is at the front of the line. As students move around the room in the line they perform a series of movements.

Sequence of movements Tip toe as quiet as a mouse
Fly gracefully like a princess Arms are strong like a hawk Balance carefully on a piece of string Skipping gracefully like a rabbit Prance proud like a peacock Tapping toes as quick as can be Gliding like a flying fox Stalk like an angry tiger Conclude the sequence by forming a circle in the centre of the room. Images of sequences are provided on the following pages.

Copy Cat After the sequence of movements next students play a game of copy cat. Music: Spring-The Four Seasons, Vivaldi by Katherine Johnk and Pacific Heights Strings Students are in a circle. One student enters the centre of the circle and performs an action. The class copy the movement. The student then leaves the centre of the circle and swaps place with another student. The second student enters the circle, performs a movement and then swaps places with another student. Same student can not entre the circle more than once.

Accumulation Students are in a circle.
Music: Piano Concerto No. 1 in C Major, Op. 15: III. Rondo, allegro scherzando (Petite allegro) by Nina Pinzarrone One student starts by performing a sequence. The next student copies that movement and adds another movement. The third student copies both the movements and then adds another. Continue until there is 5 movements and then start again.

Concluding the lesson Music: Bagatelle in A Minor, WoO 59, "Fur Elise" by Balázs Szokolay The leader from the start of the lesson start walking around the outside of the circle and out towards the door. Students follow in one line. As students approach the door they remove their belt if they are wearing on and hand to the teacher on their way out. Until all student exit the classroom. Students put their shoes back on and line up in two lines quietly outside.
