1. HCAMPS
HCAMPS is hosted at St. Vincent, formerly St. Mary’s, in Evansville, IN
It is for students currently in 7th grade. June 11-15, 2018 from 8:30 am – 4 pm daily.

3. Each day is filled with hands-on activities and demonstrations
Each day is filled with hands-on activities and demonstrations. Here, Dr. Dan Adams, retired cardio-vascular surgeon, demonstrates the anatomy of a cow heart while also sharing about interesting surgeries and cases he experienced in his career.

4. All students get to touch the heart and its valves as Dr

5. Medical students begin to learn how to suture on bananas
Medical students begin to learn how to suture on bananas. Surgeons talk the HCAMPS students through the same procedures they experienced as medical students.

6. HCAMPS students are doing another activity to learn about healthcare and will do 2-4 more activities, all within the first day of HCAMPS.

7. Day 2 and HCAMPS students are seeing a demonstration about a sheep lung to learn about respiratory therapy from a neonatologists, a doctor that specializes in newborns. We spend a few hours in the NICU seeing and learning about all the ways they provide care for newborns.

8. Students at a training station with a computerized manikin baby that can do everything a live baby can do!

9. On Wednesday, we travel to UE, USI and IvyTech to learn about their health care career programs. This is a training station where students learn to do intubations where tools are used for emergency breathing.

10. Another activity where health care providers are sharing about equipment, tools and procedures that are used for taking care of patients.

11. Another manikin and hands-on experience for HCAMPS students

12. HCAMPS students are at USI, getting ready to do a lab with a college professor that teaches premed students.
