The Paleolithic age is a period marked by the evolution of human tools. The tools and weapons were made from stone , wood or bone . They were used for hunting , fishing, cooking and eventually burial and ritual purposes .

The Neolithic people continued making tools and weapons as in the Paleolithic age. But the Neolithic saw the introduction of new kind of stone tools, first using microlights and then, flint and they were laboriously polished giving then a distintive look.

During the metal age stone became less
important as raw material . Bone was
important in the production of harpoons arrow heads and needles. Knives were now
made of metal such us copper and bronze,
and later also iron.
