Rural to urban migration(1870-1920)
The main reason for migration from the rural South to the North was for the successful and prolific industry. This included African Americans from the Harlem Renaissance looking for jobs in factories. It caused industrialization in the U.S to increase. Industrialization made room for inflation, which is the decline in value of money. As seen in the diagram below, there are certain levels of migration. The order shown is starting from a farm, village, town, city and finally a primate city.

European Immigration(1880-1910)
Ireland suffered a famine in 1845, which led to the increase in European settlers. This became known as the Potato Famine. They settled in the industrialized Northeast, where many worked as unskilled laborers and servants There was war across Germany. The whole country was consumed in violence and repression in By 1860, over 1.5 million Germans emigrated to the U.S As a result, the United States' population had risen

Suburbanization(1950s-1960s)
President Eisenhower instated the Federal Highway Act along with the GI Bill. The GI Bill provided generous funds to the returning veterans from WWII. Because of this the veterans were able to buy houses. The city was crowded, so they bought houses surrounding the city. This allowed them to have proper transport to the city to work.

Illegal Immigration(1990 to the present)
In 1910 the Mexican Revolution began and resulting turmoil and Mexicans emigrated to the U.S, which lasted for more than a decade. As a result of the heavy Mexican immigration, the ethnic Mexican population in Texas grew from 71,062 to 683,681 in 1900.
