CIRRUS IN LEM & LARGE-SCALE MODELS
- Assemble well-observed cirrus cases based on the Chilbolton and ARM-SGP IOP - Assess UM running at various horizontal (4km to 300km) and vertical resolutions to predict cirrus cloud formation and evolution - Evaluate how well the LEM performs in predicting cirrus cloud formation and evolution properties for these well-observed cases. How well are the microphysical, dynamical, and radiative characteristics of the cirrus compared to the observations.

CIRRUS IN LEM & LARGE-SCALE MODELS
- Determine the importance of various subgrid factors on the development of cirrus: - vertical turbulent fluxes of vapour and condensate as determined from the LEM, - effects of 3D radiative heating rates on the fluxes and cloud evolution - Will be Met Office contribution to GCSS working group 2. Will enable access to results from a large range of CRMs and large scale models.
