2 Do Now: Answer the following questions in your science notebook with complete sentences
Why is it important to first ask questions? Asking what, when, where, who, why, and how helps the scientist focus on what he/she wants to know. What is a hypothesis? A possible explanation about an observation that can be tested by scientific investigation. Would it be possible to predict a result before I create a hypothesis? It might be possible, but it also might be difficult because I would not know what I was trying to predict.

3 Class Website: Write the URL down in the front of your Science Notebook
Great resource for finding class PowerPoints, information on upcoming events (quizzes, tests, SCA-related events). You can contact me by filling out the form on the “Contact” page. We may be using this website to upload assignments, as well.

4 Class Scoreboard I will now keep track of when class periods win every day on the posters on the wall. Everyone is currently on Level 1: Base Camp. Earn 10 stars to “level up”

5 Quiz Retakes Permitted if original quiz score was less than 80%. Needs to be scheduled with Mr. Santos to be taken before 9:00 AM. If you were absent for the quiz, you also need to schedule a day with Mr. Santos to take the quiz before 9:00 AM. Anticipate the quiz to be slightly modified from the original. That is, you can’t just memorize the letters of the answers on the original quiz and expect to do well on the retake.

6 Quiz Review If you have not yet taken the quiz, please step into the hallway as the class briefly reviews the quiz. 6/9 = 66.7% D 5/9 = 55.6% F 4/9 = 44.4% F 3/9 = 33.3% F Quiz was scored out of 9 points. 2/9 = 22.2% F 9/9 = 100% A 1/9 = 11.1% F 8/9 = 88.9% B 7/9 = 77.8% C
