Rob Wilkes, Owner/Operator/Designer came into PACE and spent a few hours showing us a variety of logos and discussing with the class corporate culture and skateboard culture. We examined a wide variety of logos, what worked, why they are effective, or not effective. You can visit Rob’s company website at:

While looking at these logos take note of the type of font or “typeface” they use.
Rob stated that logos should work extremely well in black and white as well as color. If they don’t read well in black and white you’ll need to re-develop your idea.

Rob Wilkes stated that skateboard companies don’t follow the standard corporate rules…they play it up, change things up. Compare the logos you’ve just looked at with the following logos for skateboard companies.
