1 OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION (OBE) Engineering Programmes Accreditation
OBE is an educational philosophy that states education ought to be aimed at producing particular educational outcomes; giving students a particular, minimum level of knowledge and abilities. Outcomes - key things students should understand and be able to do or the qualities they should develop. Accreditation of engineering academic programmes is a key foundation for the practice of engineering at the professional level in each of the countries or territories covered by the Washington Accord. The signatories: the criteria, policies and procedures used in accrediting engineering academic programmes are comparable. The Washington Accord was signed in 1989 by USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand; Hong Kong (1995); South Africa (1999); Japan (2005); Singapore (2006) and in 2009 by Malaysia. The Academic Curriculums of the Engineering Programmes are designed incorporating the Main Learning Domains and Levels of the Bloom’s taxonomy: Continual Quality Improvement (CQI) focuses on closing the loop of an assessment process. CQI ensures that suitable actions are timely taken in improving the quality of ULOs, POs, and PEOs and fulfill the achievement of the Vision and Mission of UTAR. If you have any enquiry about OBE for engineering programme, please contact: Dr. Goi Bok Min & Dr. Gulnaziya Issabayeva
