3. Religious Beliefs
due to his devout Christian beliefs he initially refused to compete on Sundays
that decision cost him a chance to compete in the 1991 World Championships
after much deliberation and discussion in 1993 with his father, who is a vicar, he changed his mind, deciding that God gave him his talent in order for him to compete in athletics
on February 2007 Edwards had lost his faith in God and is now an atheist

4. Olympic Games
In 1996 went to the Atlanta Olympic games as favourite, but it was American Kenny Harrison who took the gold, Edwards got silver medal
At the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympic Games he won gold medal
Was awarded as Commander of British Empire shortly after winning gold medal

5. Commonwealth Games
in Auckland 1990 his form was affected by an injured right ankle but he still won silver medal
in Victoria 1994 he won silver medal
at the end of the 1998 season he had keyhole surgery on his left ankle, forcing him to miss the Commonwealth Games
in Manchester 2002 he won gold medal

6. World Championships
He passed the chance of taking part in the World Championships in 1991 because he chose not to compete on Sundays
He changed his mind by Stuttgart in 1993 and took part the qualifying round of the triple jump at the World Championships which was on a Sunday. He progressed safely to the final and won bronze medal
in Gothenburgin 1995 he broke the world record twice in the same meet and made a historic gold medal performance

7. Indoor Championships European Indoor Championships:
in Valencia 1998 Phillips Idowu led the final with a mighty second-round jump of 17.68m, but was relegated to the silver-medal position when Edwards uncorked a 17.86m in the last round and took the gold medal
World Indoor Championships:
He had beaten second in Lisbon 2001 and won silver medal

8. European Championships
Gold in Budapest 1998, where he set a championship record in the first round, of metres, only to beat it in the final round with metres.

In Villeneuve d'Ascq 1995 he produced an astonishing jump of m at the European Cup and won gold medal, but the leap was wind assisted and did not count for record purposes.
