2. The legal education was launched in Miskolc in 1981 by the Institute of Law. The Institute was transformed into the Faculty of Law which, in the meantime, has acquired a permanent staff consisting of acknowledged legal experts. Currently, more than 90 percent of our 60 full- time and 5 part-time tutors hold a scientific degree, and the current number of professors is 13.

3. Within the Faculty there are five institutes:
The Institute of Civil Law
The Institute of Criminal Law
The Institute of European and International Law
The Institute of Legal History and Jurisprudence and
The Institute of Public Law.

4. The international relations of the Faculty are continually widening
The international relations of the Faculty are continually widening. The students may choose from offer of 25 universities in Europe to take part in education programs, conferences or study tours, while the professors regularly take part in international academic trainings and conferences.

5. The roughly 1800 students of the Faculty – according to the conditions of the Act of National Higher Education – can study on five different fields, both in regular and correspondent education.

7. The Faculty offers
PhD (doctoral) education of high quality in the Deák Ferenc Doctoral School of Law
and wide range of specialized continuative education.

8. The students of the Faculty achieve an unique practice-orientated education. In the regular education, divided in sections, they take part in more than 15 lessons of practices a week. In the framework of these seminars, the students learn to use the knowledge obtained in the lectures.
The interpret and construct judgments and decisions, solve legal cases.

9. The success of the practical education is significally fostered by the new Model Courtroom of the Faculty, in which the students have opportunity to model legal procedures and act in the role of the participants of those legal actions.

10. There are non-obligatory subjects that can be chosen by the students in order to obtain deeper knowledge in the field they are interested in the most.
The main stage of social life of university citizens are the student homes. Legal students are usually put up in the building E/1, where they find perfect conditions for studying, recreation and entertainment.
