Clarity Lead/Enter into quotes either by ARGUMENT (what the quote is intended to show) OR DATA (who says it, the context, etc) DATA can also be used immediately following a quote, but leaving data too far removed from the quote confuses readers Make sure the quote’s speaker is clear
