Magna Carta – A list of demands created by rebellious barons and signed by King John in 1215. Why was Magna Carta introduced?
Create a spider diagram in your book. In the middle of it write ‘Problems for the Barons’. Include the problems King John and his Barons had with each other Include a picture for each problem if you have time. 10 minutes Write down what the problems the Barons had with King John in your own words.

The Magna Carta The Magna Carta was the first attempt to limit the amount of power a King or Queen had. Today we have human rights, laws and rules we live by, all of which can be traced back to the introduction of the Magna Carta. Although the Magna Carta lost some of its power after the King said he had been forced to sign it, it was still a sign of things to come.

The impact of Magna Carta The Effects of Magna Carta
Rule of Magna Carta. Helps Church Barons Knights Peasants The King must not interfere with the church. When a baron inherits land he should pay the king no more than £100 The king cannot collect new taxes unless the barons and bishops agree. No freeman can be put in prison without a proper trial with a jury The king’s men must not take anyone’s goods without paying for them. Justice will be given without delays or bribes Traders must be able to travel freely without having to pay tolls. Read through the rules of Magna Carta and put a tick on which group the new rule would help. You can tick more than one group for each Magna Carta 5 minutes
