1 Thinking Style Preferences How is YOUR brain wired?!
Any inventory is only a “snapshot in time”…only useful to ask questions and seek strategies to “test out” the information further to see in what ways it applies to me. Does NOT define me!!

2 Two Goals Short-Term Thriving Long-Term Thriving
Help us make decisions which match who God created us to be in the short term…and compensate for our weaknesses in the long run. Work smarter, not harder, so get out of survival mode into thriving mode!

3 Short-Term Thriving Develop your STRENGTHS Increase your EFFECTIVENESS
Increase life SATISFACTION Increase performance and reduce stress by focusing on your strengths, not your weaknesses. As we gain life experience, “remediating” our weaknesses works better; why? We can use the knowledge we have to do as best we can at refining our skills, but still compensate by finding our “opposites”!

4 Long-Term Thriving For LONG TERM SUCCESS: Enlist assistance from
complimentary brains as you MANAGE both activities and relationships At home At work As you grow older, you’ll have become grounded in your strengths so you can grow in your weaker areas, but first things first. Again, compensating by teamwork!

5 Take the inventory… A combination of psychology and physiology; theoretical and practical combined. Dr. Benziger gives workshops internationally; I’ve adapted her inventory to make it shorter and quicker to take while adding information from additional resources on the subject of “natural preferences”.

6 Communication Frontal Left Frontal Right

Accessing & Processing by Mode * Correlates with Anthony F. Gregorc Learning Styles, 1984 Access: structure Process: diagnose & fix Abstract Sequential* Access: objects Process: sequence Concrete Sequential* Access: abstract patterns Process: inventing Abstract Random* Access: relationships Process: harmonizing Concrete Random* Affects how we learn best!

10 Environment Extrovert Introvert
Like fast paced, action packed, competitive environment Like slower paced, quiet, non-competitive environment Another factor affecting us … especially in finding a job that we can love.

11 Jobs & Careers Analyze Synthesize Financial Advisor Psychiatrist CEO Architect Engineer Entrepreneur Control Connect Personnel Worker Counselor Administrator Communication Specialist Medical Records Manager Staff Development Specialist These are job titles in each mode that mainly use that mode, but there are hundreds of combinations. A librarian is both control and synthesizer, for example.

12 Thinking Style Patterns in the Population
55% Two preferred modes 25% One preferred mode 15% Three preferred modes 5% Four preferred modes Here are how the patterns are reflected statistically in the population. I am double basal, for example. Students with three or four…can’t make up their minds!

13 Using our talents & abilities
God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well. Romans 12:6 But Moses pleaded…”O, Lord, I’m just not a good speaker…please send someone else….” “Go, do as I have told you. I will help you….” Exodus 4: 10-13 Moving forward to fulfill God’s will and purpose for our lives…Jeremiah 29:11.
