2 Nutritional Analysis It is important to eat a wide range of foods to ensure that your body gets a good mix of nutrients. Sometimes you may need to adapt a recipe to improve its nutritional value.

3 Food Tables Food tables can be used to find out the nutritional value of foods. The table below shows how much iron is in a blueberry pancake. 4 Computer Programmes There are lots of websites that will calculate nutritional data for you

5 TASK Choose a basic recipe for ‘scones’ from the internet and use an online site such as to analyse its nutritional benefits. How much carbohydrate is in the recipe? How much vitamin E is in the recipe? How much calcium is in the recipe? Extension: How many calories (Kcal) are in the recipe? How could you reduce the calories? (play around with swapping some ingredients)
