1 Energy Continued Write on the RIGHT Side

2 What is energy transformation?
When energy changes from one form into another form Example: Changing from chemical energy into mechanical energy

3 Law of Conservation of Energy
This states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, but changes forms. No matter how many times the energy is converted, it will always add up to the same amount

4 Energy Transformations

5 Story Time! Write a story (with a theme of your choice) that is at least 1 page long. It can be 1st (I went…) or 3rd person (She went…). Your story must contain AT LEAST 6 energy transformations. Be as creative as you’d like but make sure your transformations are accurate. Underline each transformation and in parenthesis next to it, write what transformation took place. Example: At the concert, as soon as the music started, the crowd erupted into applause. (chemical  mechanical & sound)

6 Effieciency The ratio of useful output energy to input energy. It measures how well something uses up energy compared to energy that is wasted

7 The formula used for calculating Efficiency:
Percent Efficiency = (Energy out/Energy in) x 100% **Remember, Energy is measured in Joules, so make sure you ALWAYS use units** Example: (50J / 400J) x100% = 12.5%

8 Energy Efficiency Practice

9 Reflection (Left Side)
Pg. 333 in textbook ( Glue on left side)
