1 Coral Bleaching Experiment
By Group 1: L.C. Yao Leo Marcel

2 Procedure Week 3 Determine Zooxanthelle Density
Measure Chlorophyll Concentration Determine Protein Concentration

3 Coral Bleaching Dispelling of symbiotic zooxanthelle by coral host due to environmental stress Affected by temperature, salinity, amount of UVA radiation, etc

4 Aiptasia Numbers Mass of Aiptasia = .1396 grams
Total Zooxs = 6.4 x 10^6 zoox/mL Zook Density = 92.0 x 10^6 zoox/g wet weight Protein Concent = 1.70 mg/g Chlorophyll ng/10^6 cells = 47.62 ng/10^6 cell

Coral Experiment Group One’s Coral Bleaching Experiment Hypothesis: Coral will expel zooxs due to an increase in tank temperature Control Tank: Create a tank that remains at a constant temperature, salinity, UVA exposure, etc. Conclusion: Determine if in fact zooxs are expelled because of temperature Each Week: Determine number of zooxs, test cholorphyll and protein, compare with control tank Variable Tank: In this tank, increase the temperature by 3 degrees Celsius and leave at new temp for remaining 3 weeks
