12
Locker Room Attendants are REQUIRED at all levels!
13
Locker Room Attendants
Locker room attendants are required per USA Hockey, Minnesota Hockey and District 8 policy. As the manager, you are responsible for having an attendant in the locker room for all practices, scrimmages and games. The following items must be considered per Minnesota Hockey: The locker room attendant must be of the same gender as the team, so make sure you are covered. “Responsible adults” should be of sufficient maturity (an early twenty- something is not mature enough to supervise a bantam locker room). All locker room monitors must be screened in accordance with the MN Hockey Screening Policy. Screening involves no cost to the affiliate. The locker room monitors should be carefully chosen, and understand that their role is strictly supervision of the locker room. The non-coach locker room monitors are not coaches and should not attempt to be such. “All team events” means both games and practices, and monitoring is required whenever players are in the locker room. The staff must come early and stay late. The locker room monitors must be near the locker room within earshot when players are in the locker room. This applies even if other parents are in the locker room to assist a player with his or her equipment. All recording devices should be banned from the locker room, including cell phones and cameras. Coaches make the ultimate decision if near vs in needed.
14
Locker Room Attendants
At a minimum the locker room monitors’ specific duties include: Responsibility for locker room security, including allowing only team- authorized persons to enter the room and locking the room when the team is on the ice. Responsibility for the locker room key. Collecting and safeguarding any cell phones or other recording devices brought by players. Being in the locker room at all times when a coach is in the room with a single player. Background checks for Locker Room Attendants are free of charge and can be filled out at The attendant is required to forward you their "Pass" from Minnesota Hockey to prove this process was completed. The SafeSport module must be completed by all attendants before being able to be a locker room attendant. -- Available online after you complete the screening process. Documentation of this module should be held by the team manager.
15
Squirt Specific Remember you have a 35 GAME limit (not including District playoffs). Change from previous 35 event day limit. Anything that has a referee or score board/clock counts as a game. See MN Hockey Handbook for specific details District 8 will be keeping an eye on this. Any team exceeding the 35 game limit will be fined per game and will not participate in playoffs Watch your game count… 16 District Games 3 3 to 4 Games = 9 to 12 Games … Don’t go over.
16
District Games Team Managers are Responsible for ensuring the games are staffed: Penalty Box Doors Clock Score sheet Remember, if a parent is working a game they are an extension of the referee staff and should act accordingly. Do not affect or influence the outcome of a game. Do not interact inappropriately.

Jersey’s Coach must carry Extra “Blood” Jersey
23
Parents The coaches are responsible for the kids… You are responsible for your team parents. While coaches will get involved, keep the parents inline with their parent code of conduct expectations and take preventative actions to ensure it doesn’t become a problem. Do not be part of a problem. Your goal is to be supportive of the coaches in the stands and in interactions with your team. Coaches and the board have the option to replace managers if we feel this is not being sufficiently managed.
24

The Ice Situation
31
As we grow in numbers, the ice situation becomes more challenging
As we grow in numbers, the ice situation becomes more challenging. We contacted every rink within 50 miles inquiring about picking up usable ice hours, and most are in the same boat as Farmington. Our shortage of home ice means that we spend some extra time in the car, so get those carpools set up!! We have picked up some additional hours at Shattuck & Lakeville. Majority of Mite/U8 ice is at Total Hockey. Our Squirt/U10 teams will rotate some ice at the Pond.
32
The Pond Squirt and U10 will rotate ice hours and dryland at the Pond on Monday nights. In order to skate we need to have every team member fill out a waiver through the Pond. This is REQUIRED before your players touch the ice.
33
We Shattuck, Wednesday night ice and 6:00 AM practices!!!
The schedulers do their best to balance the “undesirables.” There are a lot of factors to be considered: Availability of ice Game schedules Conflict days Number of times on the ice per week Tournament schedules
34
Shattuck Ice-Construction
The Northeast entrance to Sumner Arena and the whole construction site is off limits and closed to the public. The Sports Complex parking lot may be used, or you may use the lower lot down behind the tennis courts. All access in and out of the Sports Complex is to take place through the Sumner Arena Lobby (Old Rink Lobby.)
35
Your assigned ice is your responsibility
Your assigned ice is your responsibility! Don’t contact our ice scheduler if you need a change.
36
Trading Ice Go to “Available Ice” under the Calendar tab on the FYHA website:
37
Managers’ list Send an with your ice time, location, ownership and cost. Most ice will trade quickly. Weekend ice might have to be traded for a full-sheet for the other team.
38
Payment for all ice assigned to you by the Association is your responsibility.
Again, don’t involve the ice scheduler in ice swaps. If you sell your ice, be sure to collect a check, because the ice will be paid for out of your team account. If you purchase ice outside of what the Association has assigned, please write a check directly to the facility.
39
Blocking Dates A spreadsheet will be sent out after this meeting.
Please enter requested “blocked dates” into the spread sheet and send it to the schedulers (i.e. school concerts, added tournaments, etc.). Schedulers will do their best to honor requests. All requests must be in by October 30.

Calling All Rink Rats!!!! The Farmington Youth Hockey Association is excited to roll out Farmington Rink Rats. Players who skate an additional 40 hours outside of their structure practices during the hockey season will receive a Farmington Rink Rat shirt. Players can acquire their hours at open skating events, at outdoor rinks, and/or on a backyard rink. We want our players to SKATE and play pick up hockey with others or themselves. Players/parents can track their hours with the Rink Rat Tracking Form and once they hit 40 hours can order a Rink Rat shirt. Let’s hope for weather that provides good outdoor ice conditions, so we can hit the outdoor rinks for some fun and the true essence of hockey.
