Famine A temporary situation in which a country or region does not have enough food available food to feed its population. a widespread scarcity of food, caused by several factors including crop failure, population unbalance, or government policies.

Starvation An extreme form of hunger in which people suffer from a serious, or total, lack of energy and essential vitamins. The body wastes away as tissue is consumed to provide protein and energy.

Malnutrition A condition of hunger in which health is damaged by an unbalanced diet. It may result from a diet that includes either too much or too little of one or more essential nutrients over an extended period. Obesity (overnutrition) and scurvy/rickets are examples.

Under-nutrition Lack of one or more vital nutrients in the quality that is needed for the body to develop and function properly. Results when you intake an inadequate amount of calories, or it can occur when your diet is full of empty calories. Could lead to poor wound healing, fatigue and organ failure.
