In the seventies, the Institution completed the network of first aid posts on Spanish roads, which had begun its first expansion in the Republican period. It was a new step in response to road communications to an increase of the vehicles and, consequently, an increase of traffic accidents that require a quick response.

Also started relief work at sea and in inland waters and the rescue of shipwrecked sailors, who through the Red Cross Sea became one of the best known and valued services to the public. In the seventies and especially in the eighties, the Spanish Red Cross will provide a significant leap, grow their business and quantitatively new shares and services give new meaning to it. Since 1985 began a major reorganization to the democratization of the institution, enhancing the participation of volunteers, openness to new fields of action, etc..
