What is College Credit Plus?

College Credit Plus Opportunity to Earn College Credit Grades 7 – 12 College-ready students Many college course options Public colleges are free Private colleges may include small cost Ohio’s new College Credit Plus can help students earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking college courses from community colleges or universities. The purpose of this program is to promote rigorous academic pursuits and to provide a wide variety of options to college-ready students. Taking a college course from a public college or university College Credit Plus is free. That means no cost for tuition, books or fees. If you choose to attend a private college or university, you may have limited costs.

College Credit Plus Student Choice Students can choose any course that applies toward a degree or workforce certification at a public (or participating private) college. In addition to being non-remedial, College Credit Plus courses may not be religious in nature.

Graduate with College Credit
College Credit Plus Graduate with College Credit Earn up to 30 college credit hours per academic year. No more than 120 college credit hours while in the program.

College Credit Plus Find the Colleges and Courses that Fit Students have options Counselors will share sample pathways with you. Pathways are courses to help you choose, not obligate you.

College Credit Plus A semester college course of 3 or more credits counts as 1 high school credit.

College Credit Plus You want to take college courses to satisfy your high school graduation requirements. You completed your high school graduation required classes and you want to begin college work. You want to explore college and take a course in a subject that interests you.

Books and Fees Students attending a public college
College Credit Plus Books and Fees Students attending a public college do not pay for either books or fees.* Students attending a private college may have a cost that includes books and fees. *Students ARE responsible for any additional classroom supplies as indicated by a course syllabus (i.e. goggles, scuba gear, calculator, etc.)

College Credit Plus If you fail the class or drop it too late, you will have to pay for it. Classes failed or withdrawn with an “F” will receive an “F” on the high school and college transcripts and will be computed into the high school and college GPA. If you do not receive a passing grade, the district may, in some instances, seek reimbursement for the amount of state funds paid to the college on your behalf for that college course. The school district may withhold grades and credits received for high school courses taken until reimbursement has been made.

For students taking class on Stark St. campus: Print- Student Permission Form for CCP on Campus. Go to: Submit to Student Services with Transcript Request Form. KENT MAIN & KENT STARK Teacher recommendations and School Counselor Forms are NO LONGER required. ONLY CCP Permission Form which is printed from their websites when you apply.
