2. Every living thing has a life cycle. Humans have a life cycle.
Butterflies have a life cycle.
Cats have a life cycle.
Even trees have a life cycle!

3. But what is a life cycle?

4. For example, let’s have a look at the human life cycle:
A life cycle is the phrase that we use to talk about the changes that any living thing goes through during its life.

5. You are a baby from the day you are born until you are 1 year old
STAGE ONE
Baby
The baby is born after spending 9 months inside the Mum’s stomach. You don’t do a lot.
You are a baby from the day you are born until you are 1 year old

6. STAGE TWO
Toddler
At this stage, you stop crawling and learn to walk and talk.
A toddler begins at age 1, and finishes at age 3

7. You are a child between the ages of 4 and 12.
STAGE THREE
Child
At this stage, you learn to walk and talk. You also begin to go to school.
You are a child between the ages of 4 and 12.

8. STAGE FOUR
Teenager
At this stage, children become teenagers. When you are a teenager, you go to high school and get a part-time job.
Teenagers are aged 13-19

9. You are an adult from aged 20 upwards
STAGE FIVE
Adult
At this stage, you are a grown up. You get a job, have children, and can buy a house.
You are an adult from aged 20 upwards

10. STAGE SIX
Elderly
You are now old. You will probably have grey hair and retire.
This is the last stage in the life cycle of a human

12. STAGE ONE
Egg
A butterfly starts life as a very small, round, oval or cylindrical egg. Butterfly eggs are usually laid on the leaves of plants.

13. STAGE TWO Larva (caterpillar)
When the egg hatches, the caterpillar will start they’re work and eat the leaf they were born onto.

14. STAGE THREE Pupa (Chrysalis)
As soon as a caterpillar is done growing and it has reached it’s full length/weight, they form themselves into a pupa

15. STAGE FOUR
Butterfly
The adult (or imago) is a colourful butterfly or moth. It is the reproductive and mobile stage for the species.
