Honors American History II Friday November 7th 2014 Essential Questions: How did World War II impact life at home? Was World War II America’s “good” war? Objectives: Assess the impact of World War II on various sectors of American society and the homefront as a whole. Evaluate whether World War II was America’s “good war.” Create a “newscast” presentation to present information to classmates. 15 Expectations: You’ll have the first 30 minutes of class to prepare, and then we’ll present. Everyone in your group must actually speak “on air,” and everyone must work in the creation of the program. When you’re working on your commentary, use Chapter 26 and the information in your group’s document folder for help. Your newscast must include: A lead story that shows the most striking way in which the group was affected by the war A secondary story that shows other effects of the war on the group. A human interest story that focuses on an individual and how he or she was impacted by the war. *Determine the order of possible stories based on their importance. For example, the most important story should be the lead story. *Determine how to incorporate the picture in your groups’ folder into your newscast. You might want to use it as a backdrop for the newscast or as part of a single news story.

Lead group in determining which stories the newscast will cover and how your image will be integrated into the newscast. Anchor- Writes the lead story. Reports on the lead story. *Co-Anchor- Writes the secondary story. Reports on the secondary story On Scene Reporter- Writes the human interest story. Rehearses interview with interviewee before the newscast. Reports on human interest story and conducts interview during newscast Interviewee- Helps on scene reporter write human interest story. Rehearses with On Scene reporter before newscast and acts as subject of human interest story.
