2. 1. Prestige --
Reputation or influence arising from success, achievement, rank or other favorable attributes; distinction or reputation attaching to a person or thing.
“It made any Jew in Battle School dream of being Strategoa, and conferred prestige on him from the start” (Card ).

3. 2. Persistence --
The act or fact of tenscious endurance or continuing steadfastly or firmly in some state, purpose, course of action, or the like, especially in spite of opposition.
“It soon became clear to Ender that even though Dink was very, very good, his persistence in holding onto the corridor gravity orientation instead of thinking of the enemy gate as downward was limiting his thinking” (Card 102).

4. 3. Hegemony --
Leadership or predominant influence exercised by one nation over others.
“Because as long as people are afraid of the buggers, the I.F. can stay in power, and as long as the I.F. is in power, certain countries can keep their hegemony” (Card 110).

5. 4. Jibe -- A derisive or provoking remark.
“Shen then took the idea to heart, and after each jibe from the older boys, he had a group of four Launchies recite the words loudly, five or six times” (Card 113).

6. 5. Leverage --
The mechanical advantage or power gained by using a lever, such as a rigid bar that pivots about one point and that is used to move an object at a second point by force applied at a third.
“The tight grip gave Ender some leverage” (Card 115).

7. 6. Protruding -- To project outwards; to be thrust forward.
“ Only the crest of the Giant’s face was still visible, and it was white bone, like limestone protruding from a discouraged, withering mountain” (Card 117).

8. 7. Gullible -- Easily deceived or cheated; credulous.
“ They had become quite deft at sifting accurate information out of the stories of the hopelessly ignorant, gullible news writers” (Card 126).

9. 8. Nonchalance --
The state or quality of being or projecting a feeling of cool indifference, lack of concern, apathy, or casualness.
“She pretended nonchalance, but she listened eagerly” ( Card 129).

10. 9. Manipulating --
To manage or influence skillfully, especially in an unfair manner.
“He’s manipulating me, she thought, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t sincere” (Card 132).

11. 10. Inflammatory -- Tending to arouse anger, hostility, passion, etc.
“At first, Peter insisted that they be deliberately inflammatory” (Card 133).
