1 Human impact By: Psalms, Kayla, Aisha

2 What is human impact ? Human impact-impacts on biophysical environments , biodiversity , and other resources Factors contributing to environmental loss are : -deforestation -over population -over use/wastage of natural resources -nuclear programs/weapons

3 What is a population ? A population is the number of organisms of the same species living in an area. Things that can damage a population: High quantity of exhaust gases- CO2 S02 and NH3 Deforestation- This causes problems because it decreases the number of trees which gets rid of oxygen Chemical influence- Create major waste products which is bad for the environment Causes of population decreasing Fewer children born; families with children move to larger cities

4 deforestation? Effects of deforestation is …
...is the permanent destruction of forests in order to make the land available for other uses. Effects of deforestation is … -loss of habitat for alot of animals -climate change -soil erosion -life quality

5 Over population Overpopulation is having to many things or species living in a certain place or area. CAUSES: More people to help poverty; Technology gets more advanced;often cause a stabilized death rate.(number of people born same as dead) it can also cause lack of good treatment for the enviorment SOLUTION: better education; More unemployment in the population

6 Over use/wastage of natural resources
...is overusing the amounts of biodiversity existent in various ecosystems Effects of over using natural resources is … -forced migration -oil depletion -greenhouse gas increase -desertification -extinction of species

7 Nuclear programs/weapons
...is an explosive device that derives its destructive force from nuclear reactions , either fission ,or a combination of fission and fusion Effects of nuclear programs/weapons are … -thermal radiation -earthquake -blast damage -ionizing radiation

8 J curve J curve = exponential growth
Grows at a fast rate that increases without any limiting factors affecting it This graph is calculated / determined by population size on the y axis , and time on the x axis This graph is named after the shape it curves with its data , which is the letter j This is a ½ of the types of population growth

9 S curve S curve= Logistic Growth
A type of curve that shows a growth of a variable in term of another variable its usually expressed as units of time Population increases slowly at first But soon starts to move rapidly

10 Population growth ? How fast or at what percentage is our population growing? Causes of population growth include high birth rate, low infant mortality, increased food production and improvement of public health. In the past, the death rate was high due to lack of food and poor health facilities.

11 Limiting factors ? Limiting factors -food Ex: Cheeseburgers
-water Ex: CO2 -space -shelter - competition of space - disease

12 What are limiting factors/ What they cause
Limiting Factors are environmental conditions that limit the growth, abundance,or distribution of an organism or a population of organisms in an ecosystem. Limiting factors cause a lot of competition between the species in the population If any Limiting Factors change so do the animal and plant population Some changes in Limiting Factors can cause a population to increase while other Limiting Factors will cause the population to decrease

13 Birth rate and death rate?
How does birth rate effect our population ? Birth rate can either increase or decrease the number of people in our population How does death rate effect our population ? Death rate decreases the number of people in a population.

14 What we can do as humans to keep the population stable
As humans there are many ways we can impact our population here are some - Stop cutting trees: cutting trees can turn into something called deforestation which is the “cutting of trees and them not replanting” this will lead to no oxygen and without oxygen we as humans can’t breath

15 Actual effects of humans
Deforestation -driving animals to extinction -pollution

16 More ways to lessen our impact?
Recycle , pollute ,

17 Video about recycling
