Dual Identity
In 1888, the notorious Jack the Ripper presented the idea of the duality of human nature. There was discussion about the murderer being highly educated, or even of royal birth. This hidden savagery of mankind was an idea closely connected with ‘The Origin of Species’ as it reflected the idea that man could also have a secret, animalistic nature.
