1 Reducing early school leaving: examples of approaches for Roma
I would first give an overview of the strategic measures and prevention/intervention/compensation, as well as of the whole school approach. I could mention examples of good practice in inclusive classroom approaches and different types of learner support that can prevent grade repetition. At the end, I would show the tools that we have (also in Spanish), from the Toolkit for Schools to the structural indicators for inclusive education (attached). Country Specific Recommendations - Reduce early school leaving and regional disparities in educational outcomes, in particular by better supporting students and teachers (ES) Looking at the Education and Training Monitor and the CSRs, we should focus on inclusive education approaches (how to support pupils from socio-economically disadvantaged background and those with learning difficulties) and on reduction of grade repetition. 4 June 2018 Petra Goran, European Commission

6 What works. SEAs derive from a rigorous analysis of educational systems, theories and practices. Particularly, from 27 case studies across schools serving families from low SES where children achieve excellent results. Pupil´s achievement (Maths, Literacy, etc) Values, coexistence, social cohesion Pupils’ achievement in reading in a 5 year period  Percentage of immigrant students for the same period  We like helping each other, we have more fun and became more friends (girl 10 years old)  No isolated best practices. Success in very different contexts (rural-urban, low-high SES, small-large schools, etc.). Universal components, transferable across contexts
