14 Religion and Politics Conclusion: Just to mention political matters that are relevant to the cause of Christ is not necessarily “preaching politics” (Matt. 2). Examples of a religious political agenda would be cases of the “Religious Right.” When the gospel is applicably preached, the home, school, the work place, and government will often be referenced. A clear case of the wrong mixture of religion and politics is when the church becomes politically driven, discusses political issues as such in the pulpit and tells the members how to vote. They may even offer their church building for voting booths. However, the word of God applies to many sectors of life as it pronounces what is moral and immoral. One applicable area would be “politics.” (Notice that about half of Matthew chapter two consists of references to Harold and the political state of the involved areas. Matthew does not mention such to obtain votes for his candidate, but to show the contemporary political state.)
