Football Worldwide Lesson Objectives
All will – consider where and how footballs are made Most will – reflect on the issues behind football as a global issue Some will – be able to explain how this makes them feel

STARTER – “Can you guess how much it costs to buy/make a football?”

ACTIVITY – Card sort. Provide the Omar card sort with the question “Why is Omar secretly sewing footballs?” Work in pairs to arrange the information about Omar and see if you can come up with an answer to the mystery question.

DISCUSS – Discuss your answers and comapre your findings with the starter question: how much you thought it would cost to make a football. Did anything surprise you? Do you think it is right that footballs are sewn in poor countries by children? Why does this happen?

WRITTEN – Use the writing frame to write a longer answer to the original question.

PLENARY – Reflect as a group on the ideas that have been covered today. It should raise issues of morality and development.
