Personal Philosophy Presentation
2
Getting Started Now that we gone over all the course information, I’d like to hear from you. Instead of interviewing and introducing somebody you don’t know or talking about something that happened to you this summer, I’d like you to think a little more deeply about yourself and your own philosophy.
3
Getting Started Word and phrases (song lyrics, poetic verses, quotations from movies or television shows, lines from novels, aphorisms, etc… ) can inspire us. Admittedly, most words and/or quotes don’t make an impact on us, but some stick and become very meaningful to us on a personal level.
4
Getting Started Sometimes, these words speak to us and teach us more about ourselves than we originally realized. The words that are the most important reveal an aspect of our personal philosophy concerning life, a belief we hold true in our hearts. For the next few days of class, I would like you to share these words that are important to you with the class.
5
Step One Think about the words/quotes/passages that speak to you or embody your important beliefs. These words can be found in any variety of sources, you just need to find them!
6
Step Two After you choose your passage, write it down on the rubric sheet (& attribute it, explain it, etc…) Put your passage on a PowerPoint slide/Google Slide and save it on your drive. This will be shown during your presentation. Note, you should only use one slide – no more than that!
7
Your Presentation Your presentation should more or less be structured in the following manner: Explain what the passage/quote means (if necessary) Explain how you came across this passage Explain how they reveal an aspect of your personal philosophy. This will involve telling the class about yourself and your experiences. Basically this will help me (and the other students) learn something important about you.
8
Your Presentation The presentations will start on Friday – everybody should ready to go then. For the next day and a half we’ll prep by watching some videos on effective speaking techniques. Your presentation will only be a minute or two. I don’t think you need a notecard but if you feel like you really need it I suppose you can use one.
9
Your Presentation This is NOT meant to take a great amount of time or worry for you in terms of preparation, etc… And you should NOT think of the presentation as a formal speech (rather it’s more of a conversation with the class). Any questions, concerns, clarification needed?
