What can you conclude about the angles formed by parallel lines that are cut by a transversal?

2 Transversal Vocabulary
Parallel Lines – Two lines running in the same direction, that never touch. Transversal – a line that intersects two lines in the same plane at two different points. Vertical Angles – Angles that are opposite from each other, and are always congruent Transversal

3 Look at the previous parallel lines to identify examples given below;

4 180° - Supplementary Angles Two or more angles added together will give you 180°

5 90° – Complimentary Angles Two or more angles that add up to 90°

6 Vertical Angles (Congruent)

7 Example 1 Identify Alternate Interior and Exterior Angles on Lines Using Your Colors; Label m<5 on graph with 65° Label rest of the angle measures Answer question => __________ 65°

8 Example 2; Label all angle measures (even though it has a variable term) Add two angles together to equal 180 7x + 11x = 180 Solve for x, using inverse operations 18x = 180; x = 10 Plug x into <ADE – 11(10) = 110°
