DENSITY 7.P.2B.2 Use mathematical and computational thinking to describe the relationship between the mass, volume, and density of a given substance.
2
Density the mass of a substance per unit of volume
3
It changes with the substance’s phase change (solids, liquids, and gases) because of the difference in the particle arrangement in each phase. volume & density of a substance depends on its phase or state of matter. Density
4
Particle arrangements of
6
Density composition of a substance does not change when one measures mass and volume. Physical property
7
Mass It is measured in grams (g) Using basic mathematical computations
Triple beam balance Mass
9
Volume It is measured in milliliters (mL)
Using basic mathematical computations Liquid displacement method – graduated cylinder

STEPS FOR WATER DISPLACEMENT METHOD
Record the initial measurement on the cylinder. Insert the object(s) into the cylinder. Record the final measurement on the cylinder. Final measurement – initial measurement = volume (mL)
