Gp 2 (10:30-11:45) Office Hours : Sunday, Monday, Wednesday 12-1 e.mail : Course Description : This course covers the relationship between organic chemistry & biochemistry. Acids, bases & buffers. It also covers the structure and classification of carbohydrates, amino acids, proteins and their classifications, lipids and membranes including receptors and signal transduction. Glycoproteins & proteoglycans.

Learning Objectives Understand the biochemistry of amino acids , proteins, lipids, biological membranes & carbohydrates. Identify and explain the function of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins in living systems. Understand the principles of protein purification techniques. Know the types of cell receptors and their mechanism of action. Understand the Signal-Transduction Pathways. Know the types of glycoproteins & proteoglycans and their functions.
